Culturama - Showing Mackinac County

Culturama, Celebrating Our Creativity, provided a one-day, free event in September to raise consciousness of local creativity and sense-of-place by showcasing local artists and engaging participants in the arts and the diverse culture of Mackinac County.

Culturama occurred annually 2000-2005. Approximately 75 artists, artisans, musicians, authors, culinary, historical and cultural re-enactors and storytellers displayed and demonstrated their work. The 2005 event displayed a selfscape created in the Eastern UP as part of the World Peace Art Initiative.

Collaborators include Michilimackinac Historical Association, Les Cheneaux Historical Association, Les Cheneaux Artisans Cooperative. Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Development Authority, Convention/Visitor's Bureau, Museum of Ojibwa Culture, Family Independence Agency, and Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
