Rural arts and Culture Program
QuiltThe Michigan Department of Agriculture jointly with the Michigan Association of Fairs & Exhibitions and the MSU Museum ran a state-wide project creating the FairTime Quilt as a fund raiser for an upcoming museum exhibition about agricultural fairs.

QuiltNearly 2/3 of Michigan's 93 agricultural fairs contributed unique blocks depicting the essence of their fair. The technical skill and creativity of these blocks is just wonderful! All 93 of Michigan's agricultural fairs are represented in the quilt -- those not submitting a unique block are identified in the border with blocks of the "churn-dash" pattern.

QuiltThe quilt will be raffled on Saturday April 7, 2001 at the MSU Museum's "Celebration of Fairs." Three exhibits: "Fairs of Yesteryear," "Floral Hall," and "Today's Fairs" will tell the story of America's fairs educating communities. The FairTime Quilt will be featured in one of the exhibits. The exhibition "It's Fair Time! ReDISCOVER Our Agricultural Roots" will run from November 2000 through June 2001.
