Agriculture in Leelanau County - The Artist's Perspective

In the summer and fall of 1999 the work of nine acclaimed Leelanau County artists was showcased in an exhibition at the Leelanau Histocial Museum addressing the county's scenic vistas, as well as the impact of the rural landscape, and its farming people on the quality of life in Leelanau county.

Curator Laura Quackenbush and guest curator Sadayoshi Omoto worked with area artists exploring feelings, memories and anecdotes about the visual and cultural impact of agriculture on the county. "Rural Reflections" spoke directly to this unique region of Michigan and its sense of place that is acknowledged by residents and seasonable visitors alike.
