Wooden Boats

Building Boats
Wooden Boats, Our Cultural Heritage provided 40 apprentices with knowledge and hands-on training in the art of wooden boat restoration. It is hoped that these apprentices will help to preserve one of our fading cultural resources. Apprentice Pickeral Kimball, and volunteers ages 15-90 participated with master boat builder Scott Barktol. The group restored historic boats dating 1927-1951.

Collaborators include Newaygo County Council for the Art, Lake Association and National Baby Food Festival.
